Led the manufacturing and design of Queen's Relectric's first electric go-kart, a converted gas chassis that placed 5th overall out of 22 teams. Now co-leading a 100+ member team on the battery system and aerodynamics for next season.
The Problem
Queen's Relectric took on a new kind of project: converting a purchased gas-powered go-kart chassis into a custom electric race vehicle. It was the team's first entry, and we were the only international team competing that year.
My Approach
As Assembly Lead in 2025, I worked with my sub-team to mount all of the vehicle's components and manufacture various mounts and drivetrain parts, and we ran multiple full inspections of the vehicle to make sure it met competition standards. I'm back for the 2025-2026 season as Co-Captain, now leading 100+ members as we build a custom battery system, a new electrical wiring harness, improved aerodynamics and mounting solutions, and a 200+ meter telemetry system for driver-to-pit-crew communication. The role has grown my project management and planning skills, and I'm working on building stronger faculty relationships, tightening up technical documentation, and developing detailed budgets and timelines.
Outcome
In its first year competing, the team placed 3rd in efficiency, 4th in design, and 5th overall out of 22 teams, as a first-year entry and the only international team in the field. It's also the base we're building on for this year's 100+ member campaign.
